Coreso: activity report with character

An annual report for stakeholders: a mandatory exercise for many organizations. Unless… you decide not to approach it in the classic, dry way. We gave Coreso’s activity report a fresh visual and content-driven update.

The challenge

Coreso is the Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) that oversees cooperation between Transmission System Operators (TSOs)—such as Elia—across Western Europe. If it takes a moment to make sense of that definition, imagine what that means for the activity report. Coreso’s reports were packed with valuable information, but readers had to wade through an overload of data and acronyms. The document fulfilled its purpose, but its impact remained limited.

Coreso chose to make a change. The 2023 report wouldn’t just inform, it would also highlight the human side of their work.

The new approach

At Cypres, we went for our signature content-driven approach. By putting the people behind the coordination of the electricity network in the spotlight, we made the data suddenly feel tangible. The experts who ensure that energy is distributed safely and efficiently were given a face. We translated their stories into a modern, digital-first style that isn't afraid to add a touch of flair to reporting.

This is how we styled the report

  • Shifted to a landscape format to make it digitally more accessible, and the print version more remarkable.
  • Added new branding elements and warm images of employees.
  • Integrated snackable content in Q&A style.
  • Gave more breathing room to figures and explanations to make the information more accessible and attractive to read.

The result

The annual report for 2023 reads more like a story. The stakeholders gave positive feedback. In fact, it was so well received that Coreso immediately asked us to also do the 2024 report. On to the sequel!
